All residents on the Gatehill Estate are part of Neighbourhood Watch (NHW). The objective of enabling neighbours and their communities to be connected and safe by minimising crime. NHW is the largest crime prevention voluntary movement in England and Wales and is split into voluntary Associations such as ours supported by the NHW network.

Updates to NHW are provided in our GRA newsletters, by email and at the NHW AGM which takes place immediately before the Residents’ Association AGM in November.

The estate has its own CCTV cameras covering both vehicular entrances and the pedestrian access on the estate. Whenever a crime is reported by any resident on the estate and a crime reference number is provided then we have the facilities to check the recordings relevant footage. We help with police requests and in accordance with their instruction this is not shared with anyone else to protect the validity of any evidence gathered.

A WhatsApp Group is run by Gatehill Estate residents which all residents are invited to join and which gives its participants the ability to pass on/receive any urgent messages concerning any crimes or suspected criminal activity on The Gatehill Estate. Please contact Jonathan Green if you want to join (contact details at bottom of page)

Our Neighbourhood Watch has close ties with the police, and it is important if anyone is experiencing a crime in progress that they initially contact ‘999’ and if a crime has been experienced (i.e. not in progress) then dial ‘101’. For any crime reported please obtain a crime reference number and report this to either Jonathan Green or Mina Patel (contact details at bottom of page) so that we can keep a record but also check our CCTV cameras for any supportive evidence.

In the main we have a relatively safe environment and with your vigilance and communication we can hopefully keep it that way!
